The Eirenic Verses: Backstory

A young poet named Luridalr Breme called upon the goddess Poesy to protect her tribe from invading foreigners, begging for a miracle with a heartbreaking elegy to her culture. The deity complied and thrust up a mountain range, the only passable point of which was where Saint Luridalr stood.

Societies grew on either side of the mountain range, blossoming into unique realms – but with long-held resentment that festered into a centuries-long war.

This country’s sacred class of High Poets can change reality through their literary art. This magic system, gifted by Poesy, can enchant weapons, heal wounds, and build architecture, but it always comes at a cost. To guard their power, the Bremish have grown into a highly militarized and oft-brutal people.

The matriarchal royalty prides itself on its unbroken lineage and ruthless control. International trade has resulted in modern inventions unheard of by their impoverished agricultural neighbors. Yet, intolerance creates an unsettling homogeneity backed up by torturous consequences for those who do not comply.

With this force, they could overtake Breme’s rich soil and plentiful natural resources, becoming a true empire. However, they have been endlessly rebuffed by the Bremish military and the difficult terrain. Soon, though, the two cultures will meet in an explosive reaction that will change history – and the lives of those who find themselves thrown into the conflict.

The Eirenic Verses follows the collision course of these two countries through the eyes of those who love their lands the most. Starting small with character-driven narratives, the series expands into an international assessment of how politics influences perspective. Each novel is a self-contained, character-focused story that seamlessly connects an overarching theme.

Set in a richly embroidered world populated by fascinating characters, this 10-part series shows what happens when patriotism conflicts with passion as two societies intersect.
